As my loyal readers have probably realized–wait, I have loyal readers? Probably not. Except my Mom. Hi Mom. Ok so let me start this again…
As my pseudo-imaginary-probably-nonexistent-loyal-readers have probably realized, I am pretty awful at keeping this bloggity-blog thing updated with my slightly psychotic ramblings. I wish I could use the excuse that I am saving starving African babies, but I have kinda overused that one (note to self: make up more excuses). Also, I don’t know anyone who is starving. And most babies scream their heads off and/or shit their pants whenever they catch sight of my pasty white girl skin.
The truth is instead keeping this thing updated I am doing stuff like…
…teaching my family ridiculous English sayings like “boot and rally!” –which they shout at me when I don’t eat enough lunch. And “dance puppet, dance!”–which I told them is what people in America say to encourage each other to keep dancing.
…googleing things like “best tasting hamburger in Seattle” or “orgasmic cupcakes” or “mac and cheese I would kill Oprah for.”
…watching lizard fights. In the hot season these vicious reptiles put on a show worthy of the WWF. Squabbles over the best territory involve lots of tail whipping, hissing, biting, aggressive snapping and when one lizard is about to lose ground, a super fast chase across the rugged terrain of my backyard. In fact, I have been thinking of setting up an online gambling/lizard fighting enterprise. Any interested investors can contact me here.
…listening to this remake of Toto’s Africa on repeat. Then, doing my own version of an African rain dance while my family looks on and chants “dance puppet, dance!”

You’ve got a loyal reader now. Loved the posts I’ve read so far. Safe Travels.
YEEESSS! Truth is I’m not even sure if my Mom is reading this… so at least I’ve got one fan!
Thanks for the kind words Erik, hope I can keep you coming back for more.
Jambo Melanie!
New reader and I just love your blog. I’m heading to kenya myself in two weeks to do some NGO work building schools and teaching and stuff. I always wanted to do the peace corp. I can’t wait to continue to read about your adventure.
take care.
Thanks for reading William.
Its never too late for the Peace Corps. I serve with 20-somethings, 30-somethings, 50-somethings and a handful of married couples.
Enjoy Kenya!
Reading along as well since I found your post on Susy’s stumbles :)
thanks for reading Sabrina!
Grand total 3! (Maybe 4 – still not sure about my Mom)
you have me too melanie! some days I wish I had more to do than blog and read blogs but being an English teacher is not as exciting as one would hope :) keep it up!
ps i wish i could get that mac and cheese shipped here, badly.
Dude. I dream of that mac and cheese nightly.
Also, I love reading your blog. And I hope that your school keeps you desk warming so that my readership does not decline…
LMAO I love this. The things I find myself googling instead of updating my blog are ridiculous: “Best bavarian slice in britain” “world’s ugliest dog”… it goes on. I love ‘dance puppet dance’, i’m totally stealing that! J xx
Google is amazing. Doesn’t matter where in the world you are…
